Các Abend hạn được tên của nó từ một thông báo lỗi nhìn thấy trong IBM OS / 360 hệ thống. Thuật ngữ này được tuyên bố đã bắt nguồn từ từ tiếng Đức “Abend”, mà có nghĩa là “buổi tối”.
