Biện pháp Mỹ trọng lượng (khối lượng) của giấy, biểu thị bằng trọng lượng (trong bảng) của một ram (500 tờ) của tiêu chuẩn cắt (kích thước cơ sở) của một bài báo. Đối với loại giấy trái phiếu 20-pound, ví dụ, kích thước cơ bản là 17 x 22 inch (43,18 x 55,88 mm) mà từ đó 4 tờ kích cỡ chữ (8½ x 11 inch) giấy có thể được cắt. Như vậy, một ram giấy trái phiếu kích cỡ chữ 20 pound sẽ nặng 5 pounds. Các nước khác sử dụng biện pháp metric mà thể hiện khối lượng giấy tính bằng gam trên một mét vuông (gsm).
Definition – What does Pound weight mean
US measure of the weight (mass) of paper, expressed as the weight (in pounds) of a ream (500 sheets) of the standard-cut (base size) of a paper. For 20-pound bond paper, for example, the base size is 17 x 22 inch (43.18 x 55.88 millimeter) from which 4 sheets of letter size (8½ x 11 inch) paper can be cut. Thus, one ream of 20-pound letter size bond paper will weigh 5 pounds. Other countries use metric measure which expresses paper mass in grams per square meter (gsm).
